Overview
Based on the actual case files for one of the most intriguing unsolved crimes in America, "Zodiac" tells the story of a serial killer that terrified the San Francisco Bay Area, taunting police with his ciphers and letters. The case becomes an obsession for four men as their lives and careers are built and destroyed by the endless trail of clues.
A long, somewhat clinical approach to the story of the Zodiac Killer by David Fincher. At the same time it builds good depth in the main characters, and it does not get boring despite is 2.5 hour running time.
Fincher builds the (mainly 70s) atmosphere well, and the cast is strong. We follow the hunt for the serial killer through the eyes of multiple people, and how it turns into a obsession for each of them.
It is a great example of a story and character based movie – there is very little action or gore – this movie is not about primarily about the serial killer, but about how the hunt for that killer affects those that try to catch him.
Well worth a watch.
