Overview
A crew of international astronauts are sent on a private mission to Jupiter's fourth moon.
Europa is the smallest of Jupiter’s four moons, and its surface is covered in a layer of ice. Scientists believe there must be active oceans underneath that ice, and in those oceans, there could be life…?
Europa report is a low budget thriller. It uses a documentary style to tell its story, which works quite well and gives a ‘realistic’ feel. It is a fairly simple and straightforward plot, yet it doesn’t get boring and keeps you engaged all the way through.
The acting is strong, and the story flows well. Some of the characters, being scientists and astronauts, make some iffy choices if you think about it, but don’t let that spoil the entertainment factor.
I’ll admit my score may be a bit generous – this movie is probably not for all audiences. But if you like anything sci-fi like you should watch this. It is one of those movies I went into with zero expectations and was very pleasantly surprised by it. It’s much, much more engaging than e.g. Gravity in my opinion.
- Does it have a hook? Yes. A slow burner it is, but Yes.
- Is it entertaining? Yep.
- Should you watch it? Yes. Unless you don’t care for anything sci-fi like.
