10 Cloverfield Lane

The basic premise is that Michelle (played by the versatile actress Mary Elizabeth Wnstead) wakes up after a car accident to find herself with a drip in one arm, her leg strapped up and manacled to a basic bed in a locked room. Not surprisingly, this turn of events causes her considerable unease, especially when the intimidating figure of Howard (John Goodman) appears.
Dark Star

The deep space explorer Dark Star, with an original crew of five, has the task of finding unstable planets in alien star systems and destroying them to make way for later colonisation. It is a black comedy, the crew having been cooped up together for twenty years and clearly at the end of their respective tethers in assorted ways.
Lucy

Scarlett Johansson plays the titular Lucy, a woman who accidentally gets entangled in a drug trafficking deal – and before she knows it, she is a mule herself with half a kilo of CPH4 implanted in her body. As things go wrong, she develops super-human skills, beyond anyone’s imagination…

Michael Douglas plays Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man – but now too old and worn to don the miniature superhero suit himself, he sets out to find a suitable replacement. Who knew that could be Paul Rudd (as Scott Lang), who shows that he can do more than just being the cutesy boyfriend in yet another middle of the road rom-com.
Z for Zachariah

After an unexplained nuclear event, a young woman Ann has been living as sole survivor for at least a year or two on her parents’ farm in a valley which seems to have been shielded from the radiation that has killed most if not all other people. One day, another survivor stumbles upon her patch: Mr Loomis, infected with radiation sickness. Ann nurses him back to health. As his strength returns, Mr Loomis begins to help out around the farm to amongst other things ensure they have food to survive the next winter.
Self/less

Self/less is the story of Damian (Ben Kingsley), an older real estate magnate with billions in the bank who is dying of cancer when he finds out about ‘shedding’. A procedure where for a mere $250m, a company Phoenix Biogenics Corporation will be able to transfer his consciousness from his dying body to a brand-spanking new lab-grown one, which would give him a new lease of life.
Super 8

It is 1979, and in small town America a group of young adolescents spend their summer making a Super 8 short film to submit for a competition. As they shoot a scene in their zombie film at the local train station, they witness a real train crash, and discover a large number of curious metallic objects in the wreckage. Amidst the chaos they are warned by an injured high school teacher at the scene that all is not what it seems, and to keep silent about the crash.
Antiviral

Antiviral paints a world where people’s obsession with celebrity has reached entirely new levels. Fans can now share in their favourite celebrity’s life by sharing their diseases… Syd (Caleb Landry Jones) is a salesman, pushing these celebrity diseases on their fans. But he sidelines by stealing samples and reverting its contagiousness so he can sell the diseases on the black market. This goes awry when a disease he personally harvested from a celebrity turns out to be lethal…
