This comedy is as black as the ace of spades, with Beria issuing detailed orders about the manner of the executions being carried out, and with an understandable air of paranoia amongst the scheming Politburo plotters, any of whom was at risk of being denounced and shipped off to Siberia or worse. The film has not gone down well in Russia, where the Ministry Of Culture has apparently considered banning it, an act worthy of Stalin himself.

Event Horizon (3/10)

This 1997 space horror film’s premise is that an spaceship (called “Event Horizon”) with a revolutionary new “gravity drive” disappears on its first mission, only to mysteriously return seven years later near Neptune. A rescue/recovery mission is launched, and the film follows the fortunes of the crew of this ship as they explore the vast and seemingly empty ship.

Fury (6/10)

Fury is visually very impressive. Technically speaking, the cinematography, editing and soundstage are excellent, and seeing this on a big 4K screen with 7.1 surround is fantastic. Lots of pin sharp scenes whilst the thumping of shells is all around you.
